In an emergency it is tempting to call the first number you find. A few quick questions protect you from surprises, whoever you choose.
Gas and boiler work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Ask for their Gas Safe ID card and check it on the Gas Safe Register.
Ask for the call-out fee and what it covers, and how the rest of the work is priced. Ask for a clear total before work starts. Be careful with very low call-out figures that grow once someone arrives.
A genuine arrival time depends on distance and availability. Ask for the expected time and a number to call if it changes.
Know whether you pay up front, on the day or after the work, and what payment methods are accepted. Keep a receipt.
Look for a real phone number and a clear service area. Our main area is East London (E1 to E20, IG and RM postcodes), and we also cover the rest of London and Essex.
A call-out fee applies, worked out from the distance between our East London base and your postcode, and shown before you pay online by card. Typical emergency prices are on our pricing page, for example £80 - £120 for a daytime call-out including VAT.
Ask to see their Gas Safe ID card, and check their registration number on the Gas Safe Register.
